Stock 35 Ford. When key is turned on two days ago ammeter immediately went all way down, full -. Ammeter came up to abt neutral when started & goes higher around 30 mph or so. Battery had full charge, cranks & starts good. What's going on? Thanks.

If you mean that the ammeter goes to full discharge, there must be an intermittent short somewhere or defective ammeter.

You most likely have a short. Disconnect the wires at the ignition switch and then attach them one at a time to see where the short may be coming from.

When is the last time the generator has been overhauled? Brushes sticking? Check Batt connections. Wouldn't a short cause the one fuse to blow?
