Stock 35 Ford. When key is turned on two days ago ammeter immediately went all way down, full -. Ammeter came up to abt neutral when started & goes higher around 30 mph or so. Battery had full charge, cranks & starts good. What's going on? Thanks.

If you mean that the ammeter goes to full discharge, there must be an intermittent short somewhere or defective ammeter. This message was edited by cliftford on 6-15-20 @ 7:34 PM

You most likely have a short. Disconnect the wires at the ignition switch and then attach them one at a time to see where the short may be coming from. Tom

When is the last time the generator has been overhauled? Brushes sticking? Check Batt connections. Wouldn't a short cause the one fuse to blow?
