FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Try to find a shop ,manual for that truck. Lots of good info to help you. Also the 48-56 Parts and accessories catalog listed in above post is full of mistakes and omissions. It is a reprint from 1964 and alot of the part number were obsolete by then, so they omitted alot. What you want is a copy of the 48-54 or 48-55 Parts and accessories catalog. This is where the illustrations in the 48-56 catalog came from. I have all 3 catalogs and rarely use the 48-56 because of the mistakes.
Your fan and gen setup looks just like my 50 F-1. I have a NAPA belt 215-20554 for the gen-waterpumps and a Gates 17A0926/ TH24365 for the fan. Napa has a listing for a fan belt, but it is a little too narrow and my fan hit the shroud. THe gates is perfect for me. Your problem appears that the fan hits the top? of the shroud with the adjustment all the way down? If so, maybe the radiator support bracket is sitting on the frame without the insulator pad between the frame and support perhaps? Something to check.
THe radiator support uses part number B3T 8125-A which consists of 6 rubber pads and 3 steel shims. It is a kit that you shim it up to the height you need to clear, not necessarily using all the contents. That is where I'd look first.

I've been doing quite a bit to this truck just to get it back on the road.
Thanks so much for the belt#'s I'll cross-reference, after all this time I seem be moving forward.
I'm not very familiar with these flatheads, worked for nearly 30 years in GM dealerships, quite a chevy guy, this is only my 3rd Ford, And I've spent alot of time finding info. I Haven't purchased a manual yet for this truck, I have found that part number/ illustration very helpful.
I'll attach a few more links, Have fun!
Thanks again Bill!
I'll attempt to post pictures of the progress.

fan belt is 25-09330
long belt is 25-13880 also has 244ss and 62-0
both are napa

also, that little motor has come a long way since you started. you should do a thread on what all you've done to it. did you use the ford manual? mine came in today. Head bolt torque in the book is higher than what i've been reading. I may be in the market for bolt on go fast goodies. I need to drive it for a year.
Not too many oil spots on the drive, but the bottom end has a little sheen on it. I guess thats just the nature of these beasts. also Oil pressure seems high at 80#s at speed, but I read about an 80# melling pump that may have been installed. PO passed away so I can't ask him without a ouija board. No disrespect meant. I may be able to talk to the son of the owner before Murphy, at dallas early ford v8 club.

Bill,
I am still attempting to get this fan shroud configuration settled, I'm having a difficult time letting it beat me. Would you please check the belt numbers that are on your truck now, and post the numbers for me.
On the picture you posted I can almost see the small belt number. Should be something like 23555 for the small one and 24365 for the longer one.

Thanks,
Richard

Bill, I just saw your pictures as I was posting the response to your previous info. The mount on the front appears the same as the one I have. The very first picture that I sent showed my engine after I first got it home on an engine stand and in that picture is a view of the front bracket loosely installed.

I've sent another picture with parts scattered all over the floor that has a picture of a part of that bracket along the left side of the picture to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

I really appreciate the assist
Richard

I'll attach a couple of links for factory parts illustration and text. 2 large pdf files.

Measuring from the bottom of the cast block to the top of the rear flange of the crossmember I am at 7" exact. With 11" from the center of the crank pulley to the centerline of the fan shaft all the belts seem to be fitting but the fan is still too high in relation to the fan shroud opening. I've checked and really do believe that the radiator is the orginal and also the fan shroud, the raditor support shows no signs of having been removed. I'm afraid if I move the radiator up I would hit the bottom of the hood. I don't want to cut or modify the shroud so I'll remove it for now and continue.

Thanks for your effort with this and every one else that has responded.

from top of crossmember to bottom of cast block I have 7 inches exact. From the center of the crank pulley to the centerline of the fan shaft I have 11 inches. pictures I took don't amount to much. hard to hold this stupid phone etc. I think supereal pegged it, maybe your rad is mounted low.
well I tried to find the front motor mount online and maybe i'm wrong here there is a sort of stirrup shaped thing that bolts to the cross member and then to the front of the block in 2 places. I guessed that was the motor mount. http://s1195.photobucket.com/albums/aa391/bkewin/?action=view¤t=075e1f47.jpg here is a link to a picture looking down on one side of the thing.
I've yet to receive my shop manual and so am guessing here. I apologize for that.

The pictures will be very helpful. Perhaps a measurment of the height of the front motor mount to the crossmember, mine looks correct but I'll try anything, and a measurement ot the outide diameter of the fan belt running from fan to crank pulley.

Thanks for your help,
Richard
