I am removing original headliner from my 40 sedan; after removing headliner their appears to be a bonded padding material glued to the roof; what is material and any ideas on any material to remove this tight bonded material?? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Ford installed a heavy tar paper on the roof for sound deadening purposes. It is quite similar to the material that authentically lined the tool tray. Drake calls it 'waffle weave" I believe. Regardless of what is is properly termed, it is a tar paper. As such, you can scr*pe this with a stiff blade putty knife and most will come off. If you insist on removing all of it, a heat gun makes the process quite easy. It does not require much heat to loosen up the old glue. Mike Kubarth

I would reline my metal roof with a product called Dynamat. It cuts down on the heat transfer and deadens the sound, you won't regret it.
