I'm looking for someone to rebuild a 1951 Ford 3-speed transmission with Manual Over-drive. I have the transmission out of the car. I'm located in SC, would like someone in-state.

I know that you were looking for someone in SC, but here is a link to a trusted source in Ohio. http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_contactpg.htm There are 2 Regional Groups in South Carolina and you could contact them for a recommendation. Just click on the Regional Directory on the left side of this page for contact information.

Hi Jules....I also have a '51 coupe that has a three speed with overdrive. I'm wondering what symptoms caused you to believe that the transmission needs to be rebuilt? I've only had mine for a year, know none of it's past history, but the trans and OD seem to work fine for me. If anything, mine needs a clutch. BT

2 reasons; First: I have it out while I'm restoring the car and having the engine rebuilt. Second; it jumps out of second gear at times and it's also original, never been rebuilt. I've had the car for ever, my grandfather bought it new in 51. I've contracted VanPelts in OH, leaning towards them to do the rebuild. The overdive makes it moere difficult to find someone to work on it.

Just a follow-up to the trans rebuild; VanPelts did my rebuild; excellent job and does a great job job on following up on your questions.
Thanks Jules51

Glad that you are satisfied with Mac's work and that you posted the results so others will have more confidence in sending their work to him.
