Hello, does anyone know anything about the 1939 Ford Deluxe part number 91A-16904 hood Auxiliary catch striker plate? I have tried to locate it in early parts catalogs without any luck! I have restored a 1939 Deluxe and I don't recall seeing it while in the dismantling or rebuilding stages? It would help if someone could send a photo of one in its correct position and perhaps tell me exactly what year and model it fits! Thanks, John

John, That part is used on the 39 Deluxe and the 39 Mercury. It is shown on page 365 of the Green book in the lower left hand corner. I don't have a photo or drawing of it installed, but once you see the picture in the catalog, you should be able to figure it out.

I've got one on my early '39 Deluxe coupe. The book calls it "Plate-auxiliary catch striker". It's mounted directly behind the secondary latch. it has slotted holes for the screws which allows it to adjust the secondary catch. I'm pretty sure that it was only used on the early hood latching arrangement and not on the later production Ford cars which use a completely different arrangement. Ken

Hello Ken, thanks for your reply and yes, you're right about the part description! I got it a bit pickled! I've found a picture of it and the part number but nothing to describe exactly where it goes! Cheers, John
