I need to buy a 12 Volt Starter Solenoid for my 1940 Ford and was told that NAPA has a solenoid similar in appearance to the original 6 volt solenoid. Is there anyone that can give me the NAPA solenoid part number? I do appreciate your help.

NAPA has hundreds of returns when you do a search of their online catalog. You can scroll through them to find out if they have what you are looking for. Speedway Motors sells one that is similar to the stock solenoid. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Search?query=starter%20solenoids&facet=GA_Sema_Part:Starter%20Solenoids

C&G (800/266-0470) has a variety of solenoids. You can see them in their online catalog, page 140. It is available at www.cgfordparts.com. Their price is about half of the NAPA cost. Our NAPA usually has to order them, anyway.

And now for something completely different - Tractor Supply Co. stocks both 6 volt and 12 volt solenoids for Ford Tractors. I think they look similar. The 6 volt has the push-button underneath for remote starting.
