Does any know how to tell early from late productions numbers for 47 Super Deluxe Fordor's? I would like to replace the wipers with electrics and they ask if the car is early or late 47. Can anyone help? Thanks

Do you have the Club's 41-48 book? It goes into details on the subject. In some cases the electric conversion will not fit if the stock radio is used. Most catalogs show the 51A electric wiper for all models 46-48.

Early '47's were the same as the '46 model. The '47 model came out in April '47, the same month Henry Ford died. Wipers did not change between model years.

Personally I would send your wiper motor out to be rebuilt. I send mine out to Kent Jaquith at 2633 S.W. Obsidian Ave #15 Redmond, Oregon 97756. His phone # is 541-350-7426. He may be in Arizona for the winter , but he does answer his cell phone. He's rebuilt several vacuum motors for me and they work just as good as electric after the rebuild.

The "production date" of '47 models is a bit elusive. It was more of an "evolution" than a sudden release of that year's model as illustrated in these two pages from the club's book that Supereal mentioned. Page 1 Old Henry (The older I get, the better old looks.)
