I have a pan which I believe is from a 1940 Ford - 85hp. I was wondering if anyone is able to tell me if this is actually from a 1940 model. Thanks!

It appears to be 37 - 38. It is NOT 39 nor 40.

If it's a 38 left-hand, I really-really need one.

The pan you picture is 91A-6776 the LH engine pan used on 39-40 Passenger and 41 Commercial 85HP. Look in the 38-39 Ford restoration book for additional photos of the RH, 60HP and the 38 pans. As well as the modifications to the RH pan. Although the restoration book is for 38-9 the author covers a lot of 40 parts (cross over) and is well worth having for the 40 owner.

40coupe, After reading your reply and studying the picture posted here previously, I am tending to agree with you. NOT 1940 though. But, as you state, probably 1939.
