I know my engine is not original to my car. It is a 24 bolt head with a single belt and cast iron heads. On the left head in the center is stamped "C81A-R" and bottom center is stamped "Ford, USA, 25". On the right head bottom center is stamped "Ford, USA, and a number that looks like "18". On the block right front near the water pump in raised numerals is "81". Does this information give any information on the year of the engine? Thanks!

The numbers that you posted are probably casting numbers and Ford did not publish reference material that explained them. Head numbers do not necessarily correspond the the year of manufacture of the engine as the can be interchanged between any of the 24 stud blocks. Here is a link to an explanation of the 24 stud V-8 engine differences. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_specs-85to100mid.htm
