I have been told that there is a difference between 1937-41 Spindles and 42-48. One is apparently round and the others are square. There is apparently a one inch difference in length. Can someone out there charify this for me. Thanks Tom

One type of spindle was used 37-41, and was replaced in '42 with a version that was used thru '48. They are not interchangeable The early version carries a "78" prefix, the later is "21A".

Either spindle will work on the 28-48 Ford axle as long as you use the correct kingpin set with the spindles. Any of the hydraulic backing plates and drums from 39-48 will work on the 37-48 spindles. With an inner bearing and seal change you can also use the brakes from the 1953-1956 F-100 pickups.
