Hi I need to locate the trunk lid ornament for my project Ford. I was going to eyeball it from photos but I'd much prefer to have a measurement from someone's original. In the attached photo the measurement would be 14 1/8. Any help is appreciated.

Has the trunklid been previously molded off? Or is a trunklid from a '41-'46 Ford which would not have the holes as '41-'46 did not have that emblem?

Not sure about the '47, or your particular model, but the rear of my '46 Super Deluxe Coupe looks like the included picture.

This is for the 47-48, not the 46 which also has the fender trim differently positioned vertically with respect to the crease.. You are testing me on the trunk ornament, here, which I remember as flatter on the 48. My coupe was a 48, so we need another reference.

The 1941-48 Ford book, available from the EFV8 Club Online Store, shows that there were different "lid ornament" positions for the early '47 and later '47 cars. Page 2-15 of the above mentioned book, shows the bottom edge of the "ornament" on early '47, to be located about and inch or so above the top edge of the license plate frame. The late '47 version shows the bottom edge to be about five inches or so above the above the top edge of the license plate frame. From your question, I'm assuming that either there never was one mounted on the car, or it was removed and the holes filled. If the latter is the case, look on the underside of the trunk lid to see if there is any indication of them being filled.

Thanks for the replies. My car was originally a 46 so there's no holes to go by but I'm doing it up as a 47 / 48. When I look at the pictures in the 41 - 48 Ford Book, I like the higher mounting setup better.
