when someone says that you may have sticking valves, what part of valve train is actually sticking, like on my 59a 239 that sits in my 48 ford 2dr.

The shaft of the valve is stuck within the valve guide.

Marvel Mystery Oil may fix. or prevent this problem; just add a bottle to your oil.

did you try dripping MARVEL oil down the carb with engine running, you could use a sprayer, that makes a mist, DO THIS OUTSIDE, cause it will smoke and add a little to the gas, 4 oz and drive the car, this should clear up the sticking valves, hope this helps 37Ragtopman,Maine

John A with engine running, remove one spark pluk wire at a time., [ becarefull of the spark,. use a insulated tool to remove the spark plug wire ] the ones that make no difference. in running mark them. then you could remove all the spark plugs.. now with the cylinders not making a difference put you finger over the a spark plug hole and turn the engine over by hand, one at a time, feel for compression, if none check if the piston is at top dead center, are the valves closed on the cylinder, use a flash light, if you feel the piston is at TDC. see if the valves are closed, if not try pushing the valves closed, USE KB BLASTER it that cylinder, you can use a screw driver to push the valves closed, if not turn over the engine 360 degrees, and recheck to see if on compression stroke, piston on top see if valves are up again, if they are try pushing them down, they might break loose, but LAST RESORT, you might have to remove the heads, to see what the problem is, sometimes you might have to remove the valves and clean them and the guides or replace them, hope this helps 37Ragtopman,MAINE
