I rebuilt my master cylinder because it was leaking. Now trying to re-install it. My problem is getting the brake lines reattached to the master cylinder. It's very hard to get to them with the cylinder installed. I'm trying to do it from the top. It's very difficult for an old guy like me to get both hands down there to hold the fitting in place with one hand and screw it in with an open end wrench. Finally got one attached but cant't get the other one done. I hope the threads aren't damaged! Any suggestions? If the threads are damaged I will have to remove the master cylinder and address the problem. Can I buy the brass piece that the lines are attached to? where? Thanks!

If the brass fitting is damaged, let me know. I probably have them. I'd suggest starting both lines into the fitting prior to installing the fitting to the cylinder. Much easier that way

My 87 year old hands have given the same problem to me. The fine threads on fittings are very easy to cross thread. I agree with my friend Mike about starting the threads before the device is in place. I also make small extensions and attach them to the device, then use a coupling in a more accessible position to connect the extension to the line. Be sure to use fittings or flares suitable for brakes.
