While sorting through parts I acquired for restoration of a 1952 Sedan Delivery, I ran across this item. it is not marked and I don't have a clue what may be. Can someone ideentify it?

Looks like part of a trunk hinge assembly to me.

my guess is a seat adjustment retraction spring.
