Hi all, I’m looking for info on testing my horn to make sure it’ll work. I’m wanting to test the condenser ohms, and replace the parts that don’t work. Also, I’d like to identify the mfr and model of my horn.

To test the horn, just connect it to a 6 volt car battery with 12 or thicker gauge wire. The condenser is there to control the arcing across the points. It would have to be removed from the circuit to check it.

Thanks, it’s rusted in the inside has a couple holes so I’ll probably be replacing it thanks for the reply

As Tom said, disconnect the capacitor for testing. Test across the red and white leads with an ohmmeter, to confirm you have a circuit. If you do, connect to a 6V DC supply and you should get noise. If the circuit is open, either the contacts are dirty and not making contact, or the coil winding is open. Start by cleaning the contacts with very fine emery cloth, and check for continuity. If still no go, check the coil windings. Dirty contacts was the problem with my '46 coupe horns. Those are my best suggestions.
