was given this steering wheel and shaft a while ago- cleaning out the garage and would like to sell it, but unsure of what it fits - someone told me its for a 46 ford truck, then another guys says its not for a 46, but he was not sure what it fits - any help, much appreciated

It looks like a 42-48 ford car to me, except that bracket doesn't look right.

There are most certainly guys out there that know a lot more than I do about post war Fords. That being said, I think the wheel is 46 - 48 passenger car, the horn ring 42-48 passenger car and the horn button 41 passenger car. What say the experts?

It's late '48 passenger car. The steering column to dash mount is the non locking column with the hole for the ignition switch. The steering wheel and horn ring/button are also '48

Great observation in regard to the ignition. I should have caught that. That brown horn button is 48?

Something still looks funny. I don't recall that the bracket had a square hole for the switch. And what is that flat piece sticking up? Someone enlighten me.

The 1941-48 Ford (EarlyFordV-8Club) book on page 3-22 shows only the 1947-48 horn ring center ornament as being the only one with the wings and striped keystone as being the same silver color in all the other pictures on this page the keystone is red. Page 3-19 shows the difference between the ignition switch mounts in Figure 3-17 and 3-18.

cliftford, in looking at the bracket real close it appears someone may have cut and bent the bracket to remove it from the dash. I can't tell by the photo, but the hole for the ignition switch may have been modified for a different (replacement) switch.
