Has anyone run into what I have: The contour of the plastic dash grille on my 48 car does not match the contour of the chrome center strip - the center strip is bowed more sharply and stands off the plastic grill when the screws are tight. It also looks like the availability of these parts is diminishing. Can anyone help?

The center dash time for the plastic dash panels is available from C&G (800) 266-0470, as part # 21A-7004402, about $50. My '47 convertible has the metal replacement that doesn't require the trim and, in my opinion' certainly looks much better that the usual faded and cracked plastic version. Open cars usually have considerable damage to plastic parts from exposure to the elements. My car is a driver, so originality isn't a consideration.

My '48 coupe also has the chrome dash trim and it fits excellent. At one time you could buy the metal trim unchromed and then paint it the same color as the plastic. It looked great and never warped.
