The new emergency brake cables seem like they are a little longer than the original.Has anyone else had this problem?Where can I find one that fits without having to max out the adjustment trying to get to work?

The cable should be a nominal 77". The outer "sh*ll, 71". What is the length of the reproduction? Mike "Kube" Kubarth

I am not sure on the length but I do know that the two reproduction cables I have purchased over the years always seem to be a problem that you have to max out on the adjustment just to get the brakes to hold!Does anyone have a correct NOS for purchase?

Would anyone have the part # for an emergency brake cable for a 40 coupe?

Authentic front cables are quite scarce. I buy every one I come upon. How about you and I work this dilemma out together? Go measure the front cable and let me know what you find. That's step number one. I am quite confident I can "walk" you through this easy enough without the need to buy any more cables.

fortyford and mike, I found some NOS rear and frt cables at Carpenter, but you have to check with the guy that looks after the nos stuff. The nos cables are much larger gauge than the repops. Have your part numbers and lengths available. My '40 is a very early one and still had the 70 inch, like the '39 I believe. 01C 2853 from the Canadian green book issued August '45. seems to me he had lots of rear cables also.
