Wolfie, I've had two 40 deluxe fordors and both had chrome plated frames on the rear quarter windows. The 38 and 39 deluxe fordors also had chrome frames on the quarter windows.

Actually both my vent window and quarter window frames are painted. I guess this was a quick and easy fix for rusted frames.

I just looked in The 1940 Ford Book and on page 3-18 states on closed cars, the front door vent windows are painted black. It doesn't mention the quarter windows but they probably would be black also. Was chrome a popular "customizing" thing or was it available from Ford on some cars?
