My first time posting. I just purchased a 4o Ford Tudor with a flathead. I've worked at a Chevrolet dealer for 37 of the last 41 years. I've owned a 1965 Impala SS 409 4 speed. A 60 Implala with a 348 and 3×2 carbs. A 41 Chev coupe all original with 21,000 miles. And a few others. Taking a lot of lip from everyone about buying a Ford. I've always liked the flathead engine. This is a test to see if this will post. Lol.

Welcome! You are not alone. Most of us have had a variety of old cars over the years. Most of mine were SBC's, and I still do have one of those. But everyone has one of those, they are everywhere. The flathead unique. There is something (lots of things) special about the flathead. Please put your location in the "from" part of your profile. Never know when someone close to you may be able to help with something.

Good morning--- Go to "Online Store" on the blue part of your screen, then click on "Ford Books". The Club puts out a very nice book "It's Ford for '40". It will help you with the flathead. Plus, there's a couple dozen guys around here on this Forum who can answer your questions and help you with the car. My 40 Sedan is my 1st Blue Oval car. I've owned 4 El Caminos over the years and I bought my 2004 Silverado brand new. So, I guess there's still hope for you Bowtie guys. Welcome to the EFV8CA, and Happy Holidays to you. Tom

Thank you sir. I just received your book. What a wonderful source of information. Now I just need to find a good service manual. I live close to Green Bay,so I'm waiting a couple months to have my 40 shipped to me. Have a great Christmas!!

For good service manuals contact the vendors listed in the left menu under "links". Most of the major vendors carry those manuals. Third Gen Automotive, C and G Ford Parts , Bob Drake Reproductions or Dennis Carpenter Ford Parts.
