How do I tell if the Grille in my 1940 Deluxe is original? We bought it in the 1970's or early 1980's at a swap meet, thinking it was original, but looking at in now, I have my doubts. If it is not original, I will probably try to find a repro. If it is original, I will probably have it re-plated. Thank you all in advance.

Some of the early reproductions were rough cast. The front of the bars were smooth and the sides of the bars showed some roughness in the casting. The castings on the originals are nice and smooth on the front and sides of the bars. Some of the better repos will have the manufacturers name somewhere on the inside of the grille.

Inside the grill at the end bars there should be Fords part number, without the name "Drake" embossed
