The door springs are available from Drake and Carpenter and are not hard to replace.

Old trick if just worn shafts .... just exchange the left and right hand door handles.

Your droopy door handles are usually a result of weak springs in the latch. You could remove the handle and put a slight twist in the square shaft to level the handle. Put the shaft in a vice and twist the upper part of the shaft with a crescent wrench. Do not try to twist the shaft with the handle. The only other way is to remove the latch and replace the spring. I do see NOS latches for your car every so often on e-Bay. You could put a back seat in your car, but there is limited room back there. If you decide it is doable take a look a the narrow second or third seats in the mini vans. They are cheap at the local Pick-N-Pull

I recently bought a '46 Ford business coupe, street rod.It has functional but droopy door handles. I know a lot of old Fords had this problem. Is there an easy fix, new door handles or ? Also , can a back seat be installed without too much work or would it be a major job?
