Jones, The engine you show appears to be a later block than 1936. I could be mistaken but it looks like there are block off plates on it. That would probably make it a 1937 21-stud block. If that is the case, the heads are not original to that block anyway. If you can get plugs that fit, I would just put them in and enjoy the car if the engine runs well. Ken in Texas

Are the "heads" you have, on the car, made of aluminum or cast iron? Are there any identifying marks, like a part number? Is there a Ford script on the heads? Can you post a photo of the head installed on the engine? When we think of a "manifold" usually the intake or exhaust comes to mind. Did the car have C-4 plugs installed?

I thought that the 18mm plug was correct. but they are too small for the plug hole on the head on my flathead My dad bought the coupe in '55 and it has been in the carport and garage since '59 he doesn't recall ever changing the heads, just had water pump issues. (we are 3rd owners of this car) the spark plug holes measured with my calipers are around 20mm and appear to be fine thread. Im not sure why these heads have large plug holes, have more heads at dads in NC, but don't want to swap if these were original Appreciate the help

Champion 7 three piece with brass top without the name "FORD" these are 18mm. The C-4 is for the 4-Cyl of 33-34.

looking to find out if the 36 flat head would have had C-4 spark plugs in it (22mm plugs) instead of the 18mm Champion #7's, 21 bolt manifold and no markings that i can see
