Hello Everyone, It's been a long time since I posted here. Don Rogers has provided some good photos. (You can just see my Dad in a couple of those shots, he was a good guy.) The side curtains on our '36 Phaeton are ten pieces total (there are eight stanchions). There is one small piece that fits on the windshield post, a long thin one that hangs between the doors and the side of the roof, a triangular one that goes at the rear, and the two pieces with plastic for the doors. As others have said, when you're making a new set, they are built to fit the car. One other note, we had to do some refitting of the stanchions that fit in the door posts to fit the curtains we had. Some filing and bending. Here is a link to another photo of our car with the curtains on. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll309/VeryTangled/GEDC1029_zps5295feed.jpg I found some more photos on this FordBarn thread. You'd need to join to see the pix I think. http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125757 -VT/JeffH

The 34 must be totally different than the pictures shown for the 35. Suicide doors required a stip at the windshield and anther along the top for the curtains to close against. All hooked in with "pop-a-dots". I got patterns from LaBaron Bonney.
1934 Ford's since 1972

Don, thanks for the pics. They are a big help. Is it possible to send more detailed pics of the side curtains and how they attach to the top. Thanks again.

Mike, Here are some photos from a previous discussion showing the bracket restored and in use. Hope they help.

Thanks for info, 1934 ford. So, you're saying there are seperate pieces that are above the side curtains? How do they attach to the frame? or are they attached to the top itself? Do you know of any good pictures of the side curtains on a vehicle?

That tab in your photo originally had a rubber covering on the end with the three small holes. its purpose was to prevent chafing of the top material by the ends of the steel bow. You're lucky to have them as they've never been reproduced and were used only on '35-'36 phaetons. You can restore the rubber by dipping the tab in the liquid rubber (repeatedly as the original rubber was about 1/4" thick) available in hardware stores to coat the handles of tools such as pliers. The original rubber color was black.
