rblong, apparently you didn't read any of the replies to the question! I suggested that also and it turned out he wanted the felt pad, not the mesh. The Choreboy does pass muster on the Concourse, though! Alan

Jon, I just replaced the copper mesh in the top hat air cleaner. I didn't like the price of $16.00 for the replacement from the online Early V8 stores. I was in a Dollar Store and walk by a copper chore pad for $1.00. I looked at it and bought 2. I opened the package of 3 at home and found the copper mesh was in a ring. I stretched the ring to make it look like a larg donut and inserted into the area where the mesh belonged. One was not enough to fill the space so I used all three. Looks good to me and the mesh is shiny copper. Hope it works for you. Ron

Sorry Guys, I was talking about the mesh in the air scoop on top of the oil fill. Thanks Ken for catching that!

I would leave it dry. It's not a filter. It's there to help deaden sound.

I purchased a piece of felt (1/8” thick; F-5 medium hardness) and cut it to fit the top of the air filter (photo attached). No problem with pad being too “floppy” and obstructing the air intake after driving about 5 miles. Should I lightly oil the underside of the felt pad with motor oil or K&N air filter oil to increase efficiency? Jon

Ken, was correct on his first post. I have never seen that round felt pad, that locates on top of the air filter, under the domed cap, reproduced by anyone, but as Ken said, you could make that from a thick piece of felt. It would be good if you could get some basic measurerments from someone else's '34-'36 air cleaner that does have that stock pad in place.
