ALL DeLuxe models in 1940 had wood grained moldings. The picture herein is a very accurate depiction.

Mike, I have a1940 de.luxe coupe . I am restoring back to original. I read some where that the garnish moldings came in dark mahogany or with wood grain , is this correct or wood grain only for the deluxe.I do realize that wood grain is not sprayed on. Thanks

I trust you realize the wood graining was not simply sprayed on? So, if I do understand your question correctly, you want to know what the BASE color was prior to applying the wood grain? By the way, are you doing a DeLuxe of Ford V8 model?

Anyone have or know what the color code for 40 coupe garnish molding dark mahogany is? There was wood grain and dark mahogany. I need to know what type paint to use for the dark mahogany.
