VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Great news deuce. I was hoping you would say the molds were fixed as I heard most suppliers were telling folks they could ask for money back if they were not pleased. Again thanks

My new Benton Gray mat has no flaws. Either Carpenter made a new mold or repaired the old one when he bought out the folks who used to make these mats. I think he is the only source of them.

Thanks for your input. So you would expect carpenter to be the best place to shop for a new mat and the one you have is acceptable and very few flaws ? Thanks, OLDTMR

Kube has stated that ALL 40s should have a Benton Gray floor mat. (V8 and Deluxe) Carpenter now offers a Benton Gray mat (I have one in my wagon) and while nobody can state for SURE how close it is to the original color due to originals degrading over time, he thinks what is offered today is close.
I trust Mike Kubarth's opinion as he has done EXTENSIVE research at the archives and read the engineering letters.

Regarding floor mats I realize there are several vendors that I imagine are selling the same product from one source. I need to replace the one in my 40 and wondered if tan or black was correct (tan now) for deluxe and who has the best one as well as price ?

I've been wondering about the quality of these too. About 3 years ago I bought one for my '34 roadster from another vendor. I was unpleasantly surprised that the color was so greenish but more so as to how thin the rubber was. The mat was sent to me folded and with creases in each of the folds. I left it out in the hot Texas sun hoping that it would lose these creases. In the meantime I installed the small part that goes over the gearshift lever. Although the creases would not come out I installed the mat anyway. It looked so bad that I replaced it with the old (thick) mat after a couple of months. The new mat has been laying over the arm on my engine hoist for all this time it still has these creases.

I would consider buying one of the Carpenter mats but for $160 plus freight I don't want to get stuck again. I too would like to hear more about this.

I took your advice and ordered a front floor mat and rumble seat floor mat from Dennis Carpenter today.

Happy with my 34 phaeton front floor mat (includes seperate mat around floor shift) from Carpenter.

They have been saying that for a very long time. The basic issue seems to revolve around the definition of "taupe". Some were produced with a greenish cast, others were too light or dark. I have one in my '47 convertible that came from Carpenter years ago. It is more tan than expected, but close enough for me. No supplier wants to spend big bucks for a run of mats until they are sure that the result will be universally accepted.
