FORUM RULES: Users agree to these Rules when using Forum.

The site administrator reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the user agreement without prior notice to the user. It is the responsibility of the user to regularly review the terms of this agreement.

The user agrees to the following terms:

  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.
  4. Commercial-type sales postings will not be allowed.
  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

Here's a photo of the poor quality "script" battery from Mac's.
They did offer to replace it at 20% off but it was the same mfgr with no improvements, I respectfully declined.

Haven't had that concern with my 6v BT.
I have a switched meter on the battery and do not plug in the BT 'til battery reaches 6.2v. When plugged in at that voltage it takes a day to go green.

I still haven't figured out why some posts double up, certainly not done on purpose.

Sorry for the duplication, I didn't realize the first post appeared on page 2.

I haven't found the 6v Battery Tenders to be very convenient. I have 3 and each one has the same quirk. After I hook the clips onto the battery, the red light comes on and stays on for days if I don't unplug and replug the transformer. After this the green light comes on within a half hour. I start with a fresh, fully charged battery with the electrolite at the proper level.
My 12v units work normally without the unplug/plug routine.
Go figure!

Regarding battery maintainer. I have several of the 6v Battery Tenders and have had good luck with them except one annoying trait. After being hooked up to a healthy fully charged battery the light on the transformer shows red. It stays red for days until I unplug and immediatly replug the transformer. Within a minute the light goes to green and remains green until next disconnect, then I go through the same routine again. The batteries I have used these maintainers on have always started the car after months of storage.
By the way, I use several of Battery Tender's 12v units and do not have to go through the unplug/replug procedure. They go from red to green within hours.
Go figure!

Well guys, from my investigation the last two days, neither Antique Battery or Battery Restoration are making 2LF batteries any longer. Both mentioned supplier problems and "not worth the aggrevation". Tom from Battery Restoration (nice guy) referred me to Turbo Start, a division of Axion Power International who manufacture racing and collector batteries in New Castle, Pa. Based on my discussion, it has all the right detail based on my 38 Ford Book and the rep I spoke to was very professional. Time will tell how good the product is but I'll summarize by saying glad there are still USA manufacturers. Appreciate any further advise on battery maintenance devices. Thanks

AAB SUX...one phone call is all it took to reach that conclusion.

I bought a Script tar top reproduction from Mac's. The top cracked forth year while in the basement for Winter storage.

Bought a plain Jane DEKA with plastic labels that were easily removed and placed on the back side. A nice modern 6v much better than the Mac's so called reproduction.
I should have known better as I can remember just how bad the original 'tar tops' were.

Kubes. I guess that the reason I had no problem was that I drove there with my old battery so I could get the right size. That is why I am the exception. I will also say that the people there were very "cold" and seemed preoccupied. I have never ordered to ship. Let the buyer beware I guess.

JoeB, you are the only one thus far (within this thread) that likes the place in Ohio. I am glad you have had a good experience with them. There was a thread on the FordBarn a while back and the overwhelming majority of folks that weighed in had similar experiences to myself and 37coupe. that is, TROUBLE with getting the correct stuff and the gal who, to reiterate my earlier post, should never be exposed to the buying public.
No more for me with Antique Auto Battery. I purchase a lot of batteries and when nearly one out of two is sent incorrectly, I simply have no use for that type of poor service.
In the future, I will always use : http://www.restorationbattery.com/
Same batteries, less costly and a nice, knowledgeable guy that is very helpful on the other end of the phone.
