After applying sealer, turn the studs down into the block until you reach the end of the threads. If you want to clean the threads in the block, obtain a thread chasing tap, not a threading tap, or you will damage the threads in the old fragile cast iron.

Nevermind, I figured it out (it's easy when you look at the head instead of the block).

There are 3 different length head studs for a 24-bolt 59A engine (8 short ones, 2 medium size ones, and 14 long ones for each head). Which ones go where? And while I'm at it, how much force should I use to seat the bolts in the block? Thanks in advance, Paul
