What is the size of the little ball on the carburetor where the choke rod / throttle rod attach?

My "Ford" (Holley built)carb (1939) measures .250" to .280" depending on where you measure. These are cold-formed, and will generally be larger along the die parting line. I would guess that whether your carb is a Stromberg, Chandler-Groves or Holley, they attempted to arrive at close to 1/4 inch. Given that the linkage is spring-loaded, I don't believe that this is a critical dimension, as long as you can get the linkage end (coupler) over the ball.

Thanks for the info. It agrees with what another fellow told me. I am asking as I do not have a FORD carb or engine. The engine is a SB Chev and I try to use all the original equipment I can. I will probably reinstall the FORD accelerator system and build something that will operate the carb.

Ah, but if its any comfort I have done nothing (so far) that cannot be reversed pretty easily if someone wanted to make it original again.

When you have a loose fitting ball joint connector, put on one of those rubber ball covers. They are part number 91A-9714-A. Drake sells them in sets of 4. 800/221-3673.
