What do I use as a thread sealer that will stand up to gasoline? I want to coat the threads on a small drainplug on the bottom of my gas tank.

Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket No. 3. It's been around all of my life.

The Permatex products seem to be the only ones labeled as fuel resistant.

That plug is a pipe thread and should not require sealer. Use a pipe thread lubricant to keep it from seizing. Do not use Teflon tape.
