Help, Is the 1939 "Sun Visor and Top Catch" the same as the 1940? Also, what is the 3/4" dia hole in the center catch for? I have the 38-39 Ford book, but it doesn't show any of this. Edit: 1. Should have read 1939 Deluxe 2-dr conv. 2. Where can I find info or picture on convertible lock down parts? Thanks in advance, Bill C Lodi, CA

I can send you photos if you like. That hole is for the antenna to pass through. If there is no radio then a plastic plug filled that hole. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

I can't help you with the clamp question. I know that the pieces for '37 thru '39 are the same, but if Kube doesn't have an answer, I sure don't. The radio antenna hole plug for the center of the middle clamp used to be available from Drake. That's where I got mine, but I don't see it in the catalog now. A while back, there was a post for a contact for repro convertible header clamps. If someone has it, perhaps they can repeat it.

Thanks for the info. I got this car in pieces about 25 years ago and didn't remember (or didn't know) what top parts came with it. I finally found both left and right posts including visors tucked away in a closet along with some other "missing parts". They look like new! I expect they're the same as for the 40. Re the plug, I'll machine and polish one from aluminum. Bill Churchill

The "real" plug is a taupe colored rubber. If you plan to show your car on the concourse, that is the one to have.

1939 clamps are very different than the 40 counterparts.
