Dennis the bolt has a hex head and loosens to the left. It has tangs on the bolt to accept the hand crank. Often that bolt has been replaced by a regular hex head bolt. Tom

You will need to have a new rope seal and timing gear cover gasket. If you are not using the Teflon type rope, be sure to soak the seal in oil for a couple of days before installation, and don't trim the ends when the cover is replaced, after being sure the seal is fully seated in the groove. You can do this by rolling the seal with a round object, like a hammer head, to seat it. Put a dab of sealer on the end of the seal before installation to reduce oil leakage.
