Having it on the floor still beats putting it up on the steering column!

The light switch on the steering column only turns on the head lights. The dimmer switch selects the low or high beams.

The light switch on the steering wheel sends current to the dimmer switch and to the parking lights. The dimmer switch then sends the current to either the high beam or the low beam.
