My’34 has a near stock ’36 engine with a Mallory (centrifugal advance only) distributor. This distributor has three elongated mounting holes. Standing in front of the car, which direction should the distributor be turned to advance it?

As it is driven off the timing gear, which turns opposite to crank rotation, turn the distributor in the same direction as the crank turns,(clockwise) to advance the base timing.

Thanks Stroker, that's what I remembered (from the early 50's). Just wanted conformation, working on even easy stuff is getting harder as I age.
