I am interested in a very nice 54 Ford that has been "upgraded" from 6 to 8 volts. Don,t ask me why. No mention of rewiring, only change of voltage regulator. Would it be a major hassle ton change it back? Thanks.

You can probably just change the battery and either change or readjust the voltage regulator.

I would wonder why it was changed to 8 volts? Are the battery cables the correct size for use with 6 volts, are all the ground cables in place, the correct size and have clean connections? What condition is the starter and generator in (last time rebuilt)? These are the basic things to check. Carcrazy is correct, saying you can change the battery to 6 volt and replace the regulator with a 6 volt unit, or adjust your existing one.
