I don't use a switch, I disconnect the ground cable. As TomO said, is not that much more trouble than opening the hood and turning a switch. Have had continuity problems with the typical green-knob battery disconnects on other cars, so don't want to add another possible point of resistance to the 6 volt system. And for the appearance of the engine compartment, I don't want an obvious modern thingy in there.

Always disconnect the grounding side of the battery first. That way if a wrench or cable touches the frame or body of the car, it will not complete a circuit. I don't use one on my 40 Mercury, I just disconnect the grounding cable at the battery. The battery is under the hood and it is just as convenient as opening the hood to to operate a switch. My Lincoln has it's battery under the floor and the PO installed a switch under the hood, so I use that. The switch is similar to the one on this link. It is the only kind that I would think of installing. https://www.elecdirect.com/cole-hersee-switches/cole-hersee-battery-related-products/cole-hersee-2484-battery-disconnect-switch-single-pole-off-on/?geoip=us&ppc_keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAieWOBhCYARIsANcOw0wXACGPqCJxAK9aCDMfdNiw2i_c_b1tCUmQHd94cH4eb5lHeVkrX_AaAsYbEALw_wcB Tom
