which style do you folks use and do you install on the 6volt pos grnd post? or not use at all. Tom.

  Always disconnect the grounding side of the battery first. That way if a wrench or cable touches the frame or body of the car, it will not complete a circuit.

I don't use one on my 40 Mercury, I just disconnect the grounding cable at the battery. The battery is under the hood and it is just as convenient as opening the hood to to operate a switch.

My Lincoln has it's battery under the floor and the PO installed a switch under the hood, so I use that. The switch is similar to the one on this link. It is the only kind that I would think of installing.

  I don't use a switch, I disconnect the ground cable. As TomO said, is not that much more trouble than opening the hood and turning a switch.

Have had continuity problems with the typical green-knob battery disconnects on other cars, so don't want to add another possible point of resistance to the 6 volt system. And for the appearance of the engine compartment, I don't want an obvious modern thingy in there.
