I saw a post where someone mentioned using flashlight reflectors to brighten taillights. Has anyone tried that? Does it actually work and is it worth it?

Yes, that works but so does painting the inside of the taillight housing white.

I read a lot of negatives on LEDs. Ordered some super-bright 6Vs to try first. Maybe the technology has changed, but after hours searching options I finally gave up on the LED taillight.

I am the one that used the flash light reflectors to brighten my tail lights. I used a light meter to measure the improvement. Repainting the inside of the housing white gave me about a 2% improvement. Lining the housing with aluminum foil gave about a 10% improvement, the flashlight reflectors gave about 50% improvement. I now have LED bulbs in the taillights and they are 100% more bright than the taillights with the reflectors. Do a search on LED bulbs and TOMO to find the source for the bulbs that I used. They are expensive, but work well.

Thanks. When you installed the LEDs did you have to put resisters on the lines?

Fenbach, let us know which ones you order and how they work. I am now dealing with a more complicated taillight issue... They managed to blow the fuse. . The first time it happened I wrote it off as a fluke. It happened again yesterday while I was messing with the taillights; when switched to parking lights I think. Hopefully that helps narrow things down. Ugh.
