There was an earlier thread about an extinguisher that doesn't use powder and leaves no residue on your engine bay. Expensive, but I would like to see it again.

I would also like to add to your excellent suggestion. Make sure the fire extinguisher is accessible. It's a funny story now but it could have been a disaster. One friend needed his extinguisher and it was in his trunk, "somewhere" as he puts it. He tells us about being on the side of the expressway throwing out suitcases, cooler, and other assorted items trying to find his extinguisher while his carburetor is on fire.

I just want to say anyone not having a FIRE extinguisher in the car could be looking for some sad trouble. I also leave at least one battery cable so it can be pulled off easily . I had an issue over the weekend where the amp gauge harness chafed on the clip and set the harness ablaze at 55 MPH. Thank god for the extinguisher or there would be one less Ford station wagon in the world. Thanks Just My TWO CENTS
