All of the recommended rebuilders are good. If you have the original '51 Mercury carb, consider calling or e-mailing Sal. (586) 612-1650 sal_cicala@yahoo.com Sal is located in Michigan and has been specializing in these Merc carbs for years. Ken

For rebuilds on the water pumps: Skip Haney http://www.fordcollector.com/water_pumps.htm or Daryl Fryer (909) 335-1418 Skip has done 2 sets of OCM Merc pumps for me. Very satisfied.

The usual practice is the customer stuffs the carburetor throat with cash when he sends it in to be rebuilt.

I have a 1951 Mercury that has been in the family since new, still runs and drives. Over the years I have accumulated 2 old carburetors, several fuel pumps and a couple of water pumps. They are all complete but need rebuilding. Does anyone take trade-ins so that they can rebuild them for re-sale? Or maybe trade 2 old carburetors for 1 new/re-built one?All of the parts have been in the garage, so not weathered. Thanks!
