MG is correct... replace the starter drive.

o.k will pull starter, once temperature drops below 35 degrees, boy shes hot up here in Kingston ,Ontario, Canada.

Pull the starter motor and repair/replace the Bendix assembly...

Do you think it's stuck against the flywheel or you hear it spinning?

I'm thinking my starter is stuck on my 239 flathead, just wants to wind but not engaging, or disengage, whats the best way to get it unstuck ?? Last time it did that I rocked car and finally freed up. Is that the best way.
