I need to locate a hood dowel, spring and adjusting nut for my 48 coupe. I have checked the usual sites, C&G, Drake, Carpenter etc. they are either out of stock or don't provide the parts, I will pay for shipping

Wasn't able to locate a hood dowel for you. At least I found a part number from the "green bible", 11A-16929, 7/16"-20 THD. Maybe you can place an ad for it in the "parts wanted section" of this website and someone will have one.

Do you have someone near you with a similar car? If so you could measure the one on that car. Then have someone with a machine shop make one. It should be an easy project for someone with a lathe. Nut and spring should be simple parts to find.
