  1. All information that you provide to us for your membership is correct.
  2. You will not use your membership to spam, harrass, or exploit other members in any way.
  3. Vulgar, Abusive, Racist and Sexist Language will not be tolerated.

  5. No mass posting or flooding of the boards is allowed.
  6. No Advertising of parts or cars; no Ebay or business/commercial ads (please use the "Classified" for ads Wanted or For Sale).
  7. VIEWING MULTIPLE TOPICS ON SCREEN: You can choose to see more than 10 Topics at a time ... Log In and choose "Preferences" from the top bar on the Forum page. Scroll down and Change the "Default Topics Returned" parameter to 25 or 50, and save the changes. Since this setting is stored in your browser 'cookies' (if enabled), it seems to use that stored value even if you are not logged in. So, if you use a PC that you haven't logged into the forum from, the setting still seem to remain at the default.
  8. EXTERNAL PHOTO LINKS ON FORUM: You can still use external photo links in your posts on the new forum. They follow the rules of any link in that they have to have the URL link qualified down to the full image file name (example: .jpg). The links will open in a new browser window, the same as an uploaded image attached to a post. Since an image attachment to any post does not display inline with the post, the results are the same. You can use multiple external links within a post. This link is from photos on a site from Don Clink's 'Deuce@75' albums:

    http://donclink.com/deuce_75_1/images/dscn2950.jpg

Using links from photo sites such as Photobucket can help in "size" issue with uploaded attachment files. For best viewing in web browsers, photos should be around the 800x600 pixel range, and probably not more than 1024x768. Most cameras today store HUGE jpg image files, as the default settings are in the 7, 8, 10, and 12Mb image sizes. The image files that are then attached are very large, and the browser can't display the full image size without using the scroll bars. Use the re-sizing functions of your photo editing software to reduce the image to 800x600, which reduces the file sixe and the image load time in the browser. Don uses Google's free Picassa3 software, which is an excellent photo management product. All of the photo albums of the Deuce, Grand National, and Auburn that are links on the NORG site were built using Picassa's web creation functions. And it's free? (THANKS to Don Clink for the info!)
  9. HOW DO I SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS ALONG WITH MY USERNAME? You can LogIn on the Forum, and select PREFERENCES. On this page Members can add optional information such as their City,State, Country; Occupation; Hobbies: list a Homepage; list AOL Instant Messanger Handle; Signature; "Make Email Address viewable to others;" and even change the number of Default Topics shown on a page. WHEN others click on your profile, they will see this information.

My 46 is stock, running 6 v0lts excepting a full time electric fuel pump.

I use an under the dash toggle switch for on and off.with a 10 amp fuse between the switch and the rear mounted pump.

I suspect the toggle may be interminutely bad and would like to replace it. Plus, a voltmeter across it's terminals with a fully charged battery gives a reading of only about 4 volts.

At O'Reilly and Auto Zone the only toggle switch I have found says 20 amps. What exactly does this mean, and is it safe to use this toggle switch with the 10 amp fuse?

Very recently when everything was working as should the pump pushed a full stream of gas.

Thanks very much.

20 amps is the load capacity of the switch so 10 amp fused line would be with in specs. look for amp load on the fuel pump

Go ahead, buy that switch. It's 20 amp rating just means it's maximum capacity is 20 amps. You will be way under that, and using a switch more robust than necessary won't hurt a thing.

I do think you need to change that switch! Your voltmeter should read 6 volts from either switch terminal to ground. Terminal to terminal should be 0! If you measured 4 volts across the terminals, that indicates a 4 volt drop thru the switch. Faulty switch.

Replaced toggle switch - no help. Voltmeter shows 6 volts being delivered when touching either of its terminals, and it shuts current on and off as it should.

Went direct to pump with voltmeter. It shows power being delivered to pump but only 4 volts. Before I buy a new pump, should 4 volts be enough to work the pump? All wiring is in like new condition and pump was working fine until it stranded me about 3 days ago. Back at home it showed no fuel being delivered to carb, and that remains the current situation. 10 amp fuse inline after toggle tests good - as does it's replacement.

The 4 volt reading at the pump is ok. While still connected to the working (or trying to work) pump, a part of the electrical pressure is being drained to ground thru the pump. If you disconnect that wire from the pump it should measure 6 volt.

I think your pump has failed. What do you hear at the pump? Do you hear it trying to work?

No - whereas normally you can hear it clicking. I ran a wire direct from the battery to the pump and still nothing. The pump is about 10 yrs old so I'm sure it is bad. An article in the Jan 2011 issue of v8 times talks about a model E8902 Airtext pump but it is discontinued.

An article in the July 2016 issue says modern gasoline attacks the fiber gears in most pumps, resulting in fibers clogging the filter, or needle valve. Rut Randy Rundle in Kansas builds one with metal gears for Great Race participants and modifies them for our cars so guess I will contact him.

Thanks very much for your suggestions.

The Airtex E8902 has not been discontinued. It's available from many suppliers.
It's design is superior to the old solenoid pumps from the past. Very reliable pump and can be used with ethanol gas.

The Airtex E8902 is a reliable pump.

It's listed on Amazon this morning at $40.78 USD.

Running one with a toggle switch works just fine. There has been a set-up like that on our '36 for about ten years.

As a matter of interest - I ended up buying the electric pump sold by Randle Rundle in Kansas.
Cost about twice as much as a new Airtex, but is well designed, obviously made of high quality components, very silent, and pushes fuel at a level that eliminates need for my pressure regulator. Very happy with my purchase.
