recently i came across a ad for a dash light for a 36 ford, was there such a accessorie?, my dash has a plug to the left of the water fall, and was wondering if that was where it went, thanks for any input.

Bob, I don't believe there was ever a genuine Ford accessory dash light. May have been aftermarket lights available. Ken

I also have a '36. There is a dash light switch located next to the waterfall. Its a pull/push type switch to turn the dash lights on and off.

The instrument lights are normally "on" when the headlights are on. Pulling the dash switch out turns them off. Ken
