So, supereal, does bypassing the dimmer mean the unit no longer is dimmable?

The dimmers for 40-47 are available from C&G(800/266-0470). Be aware that they are somewhat pricey at about $25. They tend to be troublesome, at best, and given limited use, most imply bypass the dimmer by connecting the wire together, and leaving the unit in place for appearance.

The dash light dimmer switch is just a wire wound variable resister that drops the voltage to the lights. Any dimmer switch that will fit the dash will work.

Anybody know why the 40-48 dash light dimmer switch won't work on a 39?
