another flywheel question

looking to check my flywheel for runout while engine still in car with dial gauge.When I remove starter can I crank engine by removing spark plugs and belts and turn by hand??.Also looking for ideas.

If you can get to it, put a socket on the front crank pulley bolt. Depending on the year of your car and engine you may have to remove the fan or lower panel to get to it.
