If I thought I had a sticky valve on my 239,how should I deal with it.

Put a vacuum gauge on it and see if your suspicion is is correct.

Here is a link to an article on how to interpret the vacuum gauge readings. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/186.cfm A compression tester will also detect valves not seating.

I would look up how to do a leak down test, where you put shop air into a cylinder on tdc and see where the air comes out.
