I wonder if a video of the problem would capture the sounds. Would be interesting to be able to help others troubleshoot using a YouTube video link.

I'd look at the starter and flywheel gear.

If you only hear the clicking while the starter is engaged you could have a chipped drive gear on the starter.

Do you have the correct 6 volt cables from the battery to the solenoid and to the starter?

Remove the fuel pump, see if that is the source of your noise.

Hi guys. Another question, this time it's about why when I'm cranking over the engine to start, it turns over slowly and also makes a loud clicking sound. 1948 V8 Flathead, rebuilt starter, new selanoid , all connections clean. Still 6 volt positive ground. Thanks for any help.
